Today’s blog post is dedicated for one of the hot topic in
recent past on ‘going digital’ that is ‘Search Engine Optimization’. I was privilege to attend the first webinar
conducted in Sri Lanka conducted by Mr. Suranga Priyashantha from Sydney,
Australia with the facilitation of Mr. Amitha Amarasinghe on this topic. Therefore
I would like to share some of my knowledge gained out of it.
As for Wikipedia Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the
process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search
engine’s “natural” or un-paid “ organic” search results.
It is the procedure of getting movements from the “free”, “organic,”
“editorial” or “natural” listings on major search engines such as Google, Yahoo
and Bing, where web pages and other content such as videos, local listings are
shown and ranked based on what the search engine concede as most relevant to
users.
SEO entail with many technicality and marketing tasks which enable the site for high ranking in an organic search result provided the user search for the related subject matter.
SEO can be divided into two major parts as mentioned below
On Page Optimization
This attributes to factors that have an effect on your Web
site or Web page listing in natural search results. These factors are
controlled by you or by coding on your page. Examples of on-page optimization
include absolute HTML code, meta tags, keyword placement and keyword density.

includes things such as link popularity and pager rankings.
